Caregiver/Nanny

Caregiver/Nanny Program

The Caregiver/Nanny Program in Canada offers a pathway for qualified individuals to work as

1.  Job Offer:

Applicants to the Caregiver/Nanny Program must have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer who requires their services as a caregiver.

The job offer must meet certain criteria set by the Canadian government, including details about wages, working conditions, and the duration of employment.

2. Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA):

Employers must obtain a positive LMIA from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) before hiring a caregiver through the program.

The LMIA assesses the impact of hiring a foreign caregiver on the Canadian labour market and ensures that there are no qualified Canadian workers available to fill the position.

3. Work Permit Application:

Once the employer has obtained a positive LMIA, the caregiver can apply for a work permit from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The work permit allows the caregiver to work legally in Canada for the specified employer and duration of employment.

4. Permanent Residency:

  • Caregivers who meet certain criteria, including completing the required period of work experience in Canada, may be eligible to apply for permanent residency through programs such as the Caregiver Pathway.
  • Permanent residency allows caregivers to live and work in Canada permanently and enjoy benefits such as access to healthcare and social services.
